Owen Roe - Boutique Oregon Winery
Owen Roe was a seventeenth century Irish patriot, who dedicated his life to upholding the highest principles of political equality and freedom. His commitment to great things makes him an ideal model for the team at Owen Roe, where they share his dedication to principle and use it to guide their mission to produce wines of uncompromising quality. Vineyard manager Jerry Owen and winemaker David O'Reilly have formed Owen Roe with a simple purpose: to produce excellent wines from grapes grown and cultivated in the best vineyards of the Pacific Northwest (including the Willamette, Mid-Columbia, Yakima, and Walla Walla valleys). These select vineyards yield fruit that has achieved full ripeness while still maintaining elegant acidity and balanced ph levels. Each vineyard is contracted by the acre, with strict controls on yields and vine development. In the winery, these high standards are continued by O'Reilly, who allows only minimal handling, racks by gravity, and utilizes the finest cooperage. From the ininitial fruit to the resulting wine, Owen Roe aims for the bery best at all three of their winemaking tiers: the O'Reilly's (bearing the Irish Wolfhound on the label), wines with the Owen Roe woodcut label, and the vineyard-designates whose labels depict Old Ireland and were designed by Portland artist David K. Brunn. Keep a lookout for these wines currently in-stock:
2007 O'Reilly's Pinot Gris
2006 Sharecropper's Pinot Noir
2006 Sharecropper's Cabernet Sauvignon
2006 Walla Walla Cabernet Sauvignon
